The Westfjords are characterized by steep mountains, deep valleys and narrow fjords that are perfect for easy hiking and challenging mountain climbs with panoramic view over the magnificent landscape and the sea. Our trips are designed using our many years of experience of hiking in the area, so rest assured that you’re experiencing the best that the area has to offer.
We have hikes available both around Ísafjörður and in the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve.
The mountains around Ísafjörður have a special character. They’re very steep and go straight down to the ocean. Once you’re on top, they tend to be very flat and have the most incredible panoramic views. It’s such a treat to be able hike in such pristine nature while looking down on the valleys below.
The landscape in the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve is second to none. It’s vibrant history and bustling wildlife make it a prime hiking location, and not only one of the most special in the Westfjords but Iceland as a whole. This once inhabited area still shows glimpses of a life requiring a tough breed of people who thrived in this stunning and rugged environment.
We have a range of day trips available which offer some great days out. However, if you have any particular requirements or desires then don’t hesitate to get in touch for recommendations or even a custom trip. We have an in-depth local knowledge and really enjoy helping others to get the most out of their visit to the Westfjords.
