We like playing outside in the cold and crispy days of winter and we invite you to come along.
We meet up at our office in Aðalstræti 17 (downtown main street) at 10:00 A.M and walk to our gear storage nearby.
We will get you fitted with the right equipment for the day and then make a short drive to our starting point. We have few opctions for the day and we try to choose the best option depanding on conditions. Our favorite starting point is in the head of Sugandafjörður Fjord that we can reach by driving though the Westfjords Tunnel.
We usually start the day with ashort introduction in avalanche safety and awareness. We'll teach you the basic on how to behave in avalanche terrain and how to use the avalanche safety gear we'll hand to you.
From there we can buckle up and skin up to the nearby ridges and peaks for panoramic view and great skiing. Mt. Kistufell is definitely an option, where we get a good view over the Peaks of Thieves and the nearby fjords. The folklore tells that a chest full of gems and gold is hidden under the peaks. We have many options to ski down from the top. Some descents are pretty easy and other are steeper and more challenging.
We will find the best and most fun way to ski down for the group. With tired muscles and hopefully nice photos, we will return back to Ísafjörður.
