Patagonia is a clothing company based in Ventura California that makes high quality outdoor clothes for both serious and "sofa" adventurers. The company runs a Pro Deal programme for professional guides and various types of adventure businessess and just recently, Borea Adventures became part of that programme. It´s hard to get into the programme and that makes it more satisfying to be chosen.
Committed to the Core
Patagonia was founded by the legendary environmental activist and climber, Yvon Chouinard in the early 70´s after a very successful business in making pitons and other climbing hardware. The aim of Patagonia has always been to make the best outdoor clothing and cause the least environmental impact in the process. It has probably the greatest percentage of recycled materials in their products compared to other manufacturers of outdoor clothing and a very big environmental grant programme. In 2001, Mr. Chouinard formed 1% for the Planet a network of companies that gives 1% of their sales to environmental organizations. The members up to date are about 700 all over the world donating close to $30 million since founded. Patagonia has always been committed to the core and will continue to do so.
For those interested in the history of Patagonia, the philosophy of the company and the environmental problems we´re facing today, we recommend the great book Let my People go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard.
Borea is proud to be part of the Patagonia family.
